STEIN Expansion

Our portfolio in the library business is expanding!

Since 01.04.2024 we welcome Massmann GmbH. Based in Hamburg, Massmann is our second location in the Hanseatic city alongside ims.
 
The company was founded in 1989 by the booksellers Dorothea and Kay Massmann in Hamburg and has since been exclusively responsible as a family-run company for corporate customers as well as university and research libraries in German-speaking countries. The company specializes in the procurement of monographs from national and international publishers. The range of services also includes a large journal department and the licensing of e-books (via Proquest e-Book Central and the publishers) and databases.
 
With the acquisition of Massmann GmbH, we are expanding our portfolio in the library business. Many years of experience and great commitment characterize the quality of the bookshop. The professional service is reflected in various features:
  • Fast and effective response to changes in the procurement and sales market
  • Online status reports on current orders and subscriptions
  • the flexible Massmann Approval Plan
  • the takeover of outsourcing projects

Forum Verlag produces, among others, "Der Brandschutzbeauftragte", "Infodienst Datenschutz für Praktiker", "QM-PRAXIS in der Pflege", "Quartier - Fachmagazin für den urbanen Wohnungsbau", "Zeitschrift Zoll.Export".
 
These magazines are now available in the Mediapool.
 
The Mediapool is a cross-publisher and cross-title e-paper reader which, as a pure B2B offering, provides a platform for reading newspapers, general-interest magazines and trade journals. More than 500 titles can be read on a subscription basis.

STEIN Expansion

New addition to the channel: Law!

SinceJanuary 1, 2024 Deubner Medien belongs to Stein media group. Our location radar has thus expanded to include Cologne. This acquisition expands the area of law.
 
Deubner Medien can look back on more than 200 years of company history. The Cologne-based company was initially run purely as a specialist bookshop and was expanded in 1998 by Managing Director Kay Deubner to include the specialist book service of the same name. In 2014, the company was finally renamed DEUBNER MEDIEN in order to present itself as a digital and future-oriented company.
 
Our product portfolio of our law channel is thus growing from traditional print media to online databases, e-books, seminars and webinars.
The ongoing expansion of MGS is heading towards the goal of becoming one of the leading providers in the specialist information trade. We now have 16 locations within Germany and four international locations in the USA, Norway, France and Turkey.

Procurement Summit 2023 in Hamburg:
New ideas for diversity and digitization in procurement

The STEIN media group was at the Procurement Summit in Hamburg from June 21-22, 2023.

We can look back on a successful event with many new contacts and an intensive exchange with purchasing decision-makers and experts from other industries.
A variety of lectures and discussions stimulated new approaches. We were particularly impressed by the emphasis on digitization and its fundamental importance for procurement. The networking events were ideal for deepening existing relationships and forging new partnerships.

Highlights of the Coupa Inspire 2023 in London

This year's Coupa Inspire at London's ExCel once again proved to be a value-added event for the entire community.
 
Opportunities to improve performance and social procurement were strongly discussed, and it turned out that these aspects influence each other.
 
Among other things, attendees enjoyed a talk by British astronaut Tim Peake on the limitless potential of a team, where trust and community play a key role. They are considered a prerequisite for overcoming barriers to create space for innovation to improve performance.
 
In addition to the exciting and enriching lectures and acquaintances, we as the Stein media group were also able to enjoy a special surprise. We were recognized as the winner of the Partner Connect Awards EMEA 2023 in the Coupa Advantage category.

The A. Stein'sche Mediengruppe opens a location in Turkey/Istanbul

A. Stein'sche Mediengruppe GmbH is continuing to expand. After the takeover of PieperMedia GmbH, this time managing director Alexander Stein drew attention to himself on an international level and set up a branch in the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul.
 
The Lüneburg library service provider F. Delbanco GmbH, part of the media group since 2022, is to further consolidate its 75-year cooperation with Turkish institutions. In addition to state and national libraries, the customer portfolio also includes ministries and universities. At the beginning, international cooperation initially existed with public and national libraries as well as with the government institution Grand National Assembly of Turkey. This has been expanded to include private library facilities over the years. Delbanco now serves around 50% of Turkey's libraries and universities.
 
The main contact person in the branch will be Mrs. Hacer Çimen. The librarian, HR and quality manager draws on more than 30 years of professional experience and forms the link between Delbanco and Turkish customers.
 
With F. Delbanco, JSW, LSL, Ciando and Piepermedia, the Stein media group covers a wide range of library services both nationally and internationally. In addition to e-books, international specialist information and audio books, this also includes procurement processes and tools for processing digital media.

NeLe is the optimal solution for efficient learning, whereby organisation, implementation and interaction can be realized both online and on site.

The new design is now being implemented gradually in all channels.

PieperMedia from Munich joins the media group

PieperMedia GmbH has been part of our corporate family since 01.04.2023. Similar to Stein, it all started with a stationary bookshop - "Buchhandlung Rudolf Pieper GmbH". Since 2015, the business fields have been expanded under the current company name "PieperMedia GmbH". 

"PieperMedia GmbH" - international and traditional - looks back on a company history of more than 40 years. They offer their national and international customers from administration, industry and business as well as schools, universities, libraries and authorities comprehensive service and professional know-how.  

By moving into the offices of "ciando GmbH", Alexander Stein is focusing on overarching cooperation as well as bundling the locations. The e-book service provider ciando has been part of the corporate group since 2022.

The media group STEIN at the largest specialist congress for libraries in Austria

From 2nd to 5th May 2023, the largest specialist congress will take place for the first time in Innsbruck, Austria.
 
The Association of Austrian Librarians and the Library Association of Austria organize the event for employees of scientific and public libraries, students of library and information management as well as for information professionals in government offices and in the private sector.
 
This convention is an opportunity to make personal contacts and to present yourself as a company in times of digital change and the rapid procurement of information.
 
More than 80 companies present their products and services related to libraries. Publishers and book trade, library needs, library furnishings and equipment, software and IT solutions for libraries come together with around 500 participants from over 70 libraries and information areas to exchange views on the latest developments in the IT, information and equipment market.

A. Stein'sche Buchhandlung rated as an A-supplier!

Mercateo is Europe's leading B2B procurement platform for business customers and ensures professional supplier management.

The IT company was founded in Munich in 2000 and is active in over 14 European countries. Suppliers and buyers conduct commercial transactions on the Mercateo platform. However, Mercateo itself does not have any warehouses.

Items are delivered directly from the supplier to the customer on behalf of Mercateo. The supplier is therefore responsible for punctual and damage-free delivery.

Mercateo always has high expectations of its partners, which the A. Stein'sche Buchhandlung happily fulfils.

Once a year, Mercateo evaluates the suppliers according to the ABC classification. The proportion of A-suppliers is very small, the majority of suppliers are in the C-parts area.

The following criteria were highlighted:

3. Content quality / quantity
4. Operational
5. Technical

We are particularly pleased with the evaluation of the operational area, as we received a particularly good rating for our customer service.

The Visible Body anatomy tool is designed for physicians and medical students and provides multi-layered anatomy and physiology content to customers worldwide, accessible via tablet, smartphone or laptop.

Office in Munich redesigned

Our location in Munich has been remodeled and now offers a separate office for our IT department and accounting department. The partner management and the support department are also pleased to have their own office facilities. Space has been created with additional workstations for our remote colleagues. The recently furnished conference room completes the renovation.
